VRHS hosts American Legion Oratory Contest

VRHS American Legion Oratory

The annual Post #61 American Legion Oratory Contest was held at Valley Regional High School on Wednesday, January 31st.  Participants must write and present without notes, an eight to ten minute speech, on the rights and responsibilities of a citizen on some aspect of our Constitution.  In addition, one of four articles or amendments are chosen and must be explained in three to five minutes.

 

Valley's participants were Sophie Spaner, Lindsey Madden, Maeve Collins, Katie Morrissey, who placed second, and Connor Riordan, who won the oratory.  Connor will move on to the next level of competition on February 10th, which will be held at the Westbrook Library starting at 1:00 p.m.
